The Center for Translational Biomedical Research (CTBR) at UNC Greensboro features cutting-edge laboratories and advanced analytical instruments, including mass spectrometers and next-generation sequencing technologies. These facilities support innovative research in metabolic diseases and foster interdisciplinary collaboration. Located at the North Carolina Research Campus, CTBR offers an environment rich in resources and partnership opportunities.

Our goal is to maintain a diverse and energetic research workforce at the Center. If you are interested in joining us as a postdoctoral researcher or research scientist, you are strongly encouraged to contact Dr. Zhang or Dr. Zhou individually, and include a CV and a description of your research interests and skills, and how they align with the expertise and needs of their respective research groups.

In addition, Dr. Zhang and Dr. Zhou admit graduate students through the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry and the Department of Nutrition, respectively. Please contact them individually if you are interested in pursuing graduate study with them.

The Zhou Research Group studies how imbalanced diets and lifestyle factors like alcohol abuse lead to liver diseases, which affect 1 in 10 Americans and are a significant cause of death. Funded by the NIH, they focus on fatty liver disease, exploring its causes, progression, and potential treatments to prevent and reverse liver damage.

The Zhang Research Group aims to improve biomolecule measurement techniques and apply proteomics, lipidomics, and metabolomics for identifying disease biomarkers and understanding disease mechanisms. Their work could lead to early diagnostic assays and effective prevention strategies for better health.
